Dr. Z. Rachel Huang earned her Ph.D. from Stanford University, where she conducted research with Prof. Zhenan Bao and Prof. Yi Cui on the molecular design of polymer materials for batteries. Her postdoctoral training is at UT Austin, where she works with Prof. Benny Freeman on ion transport in polymer membranes.
Before her graduate studies, she worked at Apple Inc. as a polymer product design engineer. She received her B.S. from UC Berkeley, where she worked with Prof. Phillip Messersmith on hydrogels for drug delivery.
Her research has been recognized with several honors, including Forbes 30 Under 30 (North America, Science) and Eastman Chemical Student Award (ACS PMSE).
